Noyon Bogd Uul
Introduction
Exploration licence in Bayankhongor province with area of 24 sq. km.
The XV-022723 Noyon Bogd Uul precious metals and polymetals exploration licence was granted on 22 March 2024. It is valid for three years and can be extended three times for a total of 12 years.
The licence is situated in Baatsagaan soum in Bayankhongor aymag south of Boon Tsagaan lake approximately 190 km SW of Bayankhongor.
Area of the licence is 2 432.21 ha.
The licence is located in the Lake Zone at the northern foot of the Bayan Tsagan Uul. The basement consists of the Neoproterozoic to Cambrian Khantaishir Formation, intruded by the Lower Permian Shar Oron Massif and capped by the Lower Permian volcanic sequence of the Delgerkhangay Fm. Pre-Mesozoic rocks are bounded from the north by the fault. Lower Cretaceous sandstones and siltstones with marl beds are covered by Pleistocene-Holocene dejection cone gravels.
An intensely altered body of rhyolitic tuffs of the Lower Permian Delgerkhangay Fm is exposed on the easternmost edge of the Noyon Bogd Uul licence. Fine pyrite impregnation is common in the central part of the body. The outcrop part of the mineralised layer with thickness ranging from a few to 15 metres is covered by a gypsum cap.
